NON-CHURCH PEOPLE

If you don't really consider yourself a "church person," you definitely need to check out Coram Deo. Why? Because there could be a lot of reasons why church is not your thing. And we think most of them have very little to do with Jesus and a whole lot to do with what church has become in 21st-century America.

Many churches have a tendency, whether implicitly or explicitly, to categorize people as "insiders" and "outsiders." Maybe you've felt this at some churches you've visited. We want Coram Deo to be different.

See, the gospel of Jesus is an equal-opportunity offender. It confronts both selfish religious people and selfish irreligious people. It challenges moralism as well as relativism. So at Coram Deo, repentance and faith is the norm for everyone, no matter how religious (or irreligious) you are. If you're going to get offended by anything, we want it to be Jesus, because he's honestly a pretty offensive guy sometimes. But you shouldn't get offended by "us vs. them" language, or by endless appeals for money, or by the vague feeling that this is our club and you can't join.

Our most fundamental belief is that church isn't a place or an event. It's a community of people living authentically together. Knowing Jesus brings incredible transformation in a person's life. But it also brings great freedom to be honest. You won't see us trying to be something we're not. You will see us doing our best to live life under the rule and reign of Jesus - and inviting you to journey with us.

If you consider yourself a 'church person', click here to find out why Coram Deo might seem a little different.
